The period of participation can span anywhere from 1 to 13 weeks. For volunteers, interns, and students, ViG’s program flexibility is designed to work around their schedules, with programs being available year-round (Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter), as well as starting and ending dates up to the participant’s choice!

Do I Need English Teaching Experience to Join One of the Teaching Internship Programs in Europe?

Most people who want to join internships that involve teaching English ask whether English Teaching experience is required. At Volunteer in Germany:

What Do You Need to Join Any of The Internship Programs in Germany?

If you decide to join an internship program in Europe/Germany, there are things you don’t need to be, have, or hold. The internship programs are designed to be simple and open to as many people without many restrictions. You do not need:

  • Any knowledge of Arabic or German.
  • Any kind of experience in teaching English.
  • To currently be a student.

But you are required to have, or be studying for, a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent.

What Does a Day in The Life of an Intern or Volunteer Look Like?

If you join one of the internship programs in Europe, you will be able to get personal, practical, and life experience by being in Germany. Your day will look like:

  • The day starts with a group breakfast at the Center at 9:30 a.m.
  • After breakfast, the interns either meet with his/her students for the first English class of the day, prepare and give presentations, or write articles for publication.
  • After that, the interns have their choice of cooking lunch in the center or visiting a restaurant in the city with other interns and/or volunteers.
  • In the afternoon, an intern will either teach another English class or partake in German or Arabic lessons.
  • The center closes at 6 p.m. Interns and volunteers are asked to assist in one cleaning duty per week.
