Get to Know Volunteer in Germany

Volunteer in Germany was founded in 2018, following the success of our sister organization in Hebron, Palestine, which has been a hub for community support since 2011. Our center is located at Leipziger Strasse 16, right in the heart of Halle (Saale), the largest city in the southern German state of Saxony-Anhalt. Situated along the Saale River, Halle is home to approximately 236,000 residents and lies just 170 km from Berlin.

There are many historic sites in Halle, including Francke Stiftungen, Haendel Hause, museums, churches, the old market, and the lovely historic architecture of the city. There are also many beautiful landscapes and green areas including parks, lakes, and rivers across the city of Halle (Saale).

Volunteer in Germany is conveniently only a three-minute walk from the city center. This makes many sites and attractions, such as restaurants, Arabic shops, cafes, bars, playgrounds, libraries, and Martin Luther University, easily accessible.

Testimonial

I had an amazing time volunteering with Volunteer in Germany in Halle, where I learned German and taught English. The communal breakfasts were a great way to connect with fellow volunteers and staff. The balance of teaching, learning, and free time allowed me to grow personally and professionally.

German lessons with Muaz were a highlight, and teaching English was incredibly rewarding. The sense of community and camaraderie with other volunteers made the experience even more memorable. As a solo female traveler, I felt safe and supported throughout my stay. I highly recommend this program! Georgia, Australia
