How can you make the necessary payments for the program? Once participants receive an invoice from the Volunteer in Germany, they will have two weeks to finalize their payment. If the amount of money owed is a large sum, options are available to pay in multiple installments. You should make all the payments at least two weeks before the program you applied for starts.

How To Handle Program Payments?

If participants register at the last minute and are in Halle (Saale), Germany before their scheduled start dates, arrangements can be made so they can pay their installment(s) in cash.

Participants have three main payment options available to them:

  1. Online transfer to our bank in Germany
  2. Via Western Union
  3. Via Money Gram

*Please note that applicants are responsible for covering ALL transfer fees!

1) Online Bank Transfer

With this option, applicants can send their payment/payment installments via a bank in Germany. We recommend using Transferwise, a website to send money electronically. It accepts both Visa and credit cards.

Our bank information will be listed in the invoice you receive and instructions on how to conduct the transfer.

2) Western Union (WU)

Participants can send payments via Western Union, either online or by visiting their local WU agent. The only information required to transfer via Western Union is the recipient’s name (account name) and the country receiving it.

After participants have filled out the necessary transfer form, Western Union will provide participants with a transfer number to enable the successful transmission of their payment.

3) MoneyGram

A MoneyGram will allow applicants to transfer payments through physical currency. MoneyGram locations are located worldwide, making it easy to send a MoneyGram from various locations.

Necessary Items and Information to Conduct a MoneyGram Transfer:

  • A form of personal I.D. (Driver’s License, State I.D., Passport)
  • The recipient’s full name – the one listed on their provided I.D. – and their location.
  • The amount you wish to send (be mindful of additional expenses to cover transaction fees).

How to Complete Your Transaction:

1) Complete and fill out a Send form accordingly, then give the completed form to the MoneyGram agent with applicable funds (including transaction fees).

2) Notify your recipient: Once the transfer is initiated, save the provided receipt and 8-digit transfer code; then share the 8-digit transfer code with the fund’s recipient – they will need this to access the funds on their end. Funds sent to a bank account will be sent directly into the account.
